The Gift began rapping/producing/songwritting at the age 12- a young teen
making hardcore rap music with his older brother who would soon fall in love with making music, he has been creating mixtapes since the age 12 and is still doing so "The Gift " has over 9 mixtapes and has plans on doing more
although he is currently unsigned and not getting noticed for his splendid talent he said he will continue working hard and showing his dedication and will to never give up on chasing his dream. Born David Allan Ricks 2nd growing up in Bladensburg, Maryland was fairly good for the most part. in elementary school David got in trouble alot and was retained in the 5th grade. David wasnt a problem child but he made alot of bad decisions and now learning from all his mistakes, David is currently finishing up his last year of high school and plans to go to college once completing high school to become successful. David grew up in a household with two strong black parents and 2 siblings- he stood out from his brother and sister by doing things alot different, he always wanted to be different from his siblings.
Shocking to say but David seems to never have any stage freight when steping on stage, he has always been calm for the most part and has always kept himself together before hitting the stage. at age 13 David played Dr. Martin Luther King J.R. in a school play and was said that he had one of the best performances, David has done school talent shows and local shows in the DMV area.
I have my own style i finally know what and who The Gift is i am going to do what i want to do and i know were i am going thanks to the man all the way up stairs. GOD FIRST ALWAYS.

I love Hip Hop everything about it, the beats, instruments, similies, Metaphors, the stories being told i was a huge fan of 90's rap 2pac, Biggie smalls they had stories to tell i loved 2pac story alot better than Bigges but he was great as well. everybody has a story to tell and im waiting for the day i can tell the world mine and see my skills and see what i have to bring to the table.
i love Hip Hop so much i study every rapper, i think other than 2pac i studied T.I.'S interviews and T.I. as a person the most, i studied his reactions, his passion for music him being in the studio i watched them all.
What does Recording Music mean to you.

Recording means more than living to me i breathe music, recording music is more than a passion to me. this is all i do morning, evening, night whenever. there's never a wrong time to create new music and new idea's. i almost quit high school for this i would put my life on the line for this.
i don't like the word hate but i really can't stand when those who call themselves artist aren't as passionate and they earn a name. those who don't put in the time, those who make recording a second girlfriend. cheating on her being dishonest to her. mistreat music how can you call yourself an artist but i respect everyone so wish you much success.
